Dr. Benjamin Iobst

As a retired Allentown Police Sergeant who specialized in crisis negotiation, mental health intervention, and drug recognition, Dr. Benjamin Iobst brings over two decades of experience in law enforcement, military, and public administration, combined with extensive academic achievements and certifications in psychology, crisis management, and criminal justice.

Ben grew up in the Poconos in Pennsylvania and joined the US Army shortly after 9/11. While in the Army Ben served on active duty as an Infantryman during multiple tours in the Iraq War. Upon returning home, Ben became an Allentown Police Officer, serving in multiple jobs, including Patrolman, Detective, Hostage Negotiator, a Specialty Team Commander and Patrol Supervisor. Ben retired in good standing from the Allentown Police Department in December of 2023 and is currently a Part-Time Officer at Fountain Hill Police Department. Ben is passionate about helping first responders and veterans, as he is a peer support volunteer in both Eastern PA Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Lehigh Valley Law Enforcement Peer Wellness Group. Ben holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Liberty University, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, from the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from DeSales University. Ben also has received over 1400 hours of training and certification in various law enforcement and public safety skills.
